A South African woman named Gosiame Thamara has given birth to 10 babies by birth and broke the world record set by a Malian woman who had given birth to nine children several months ago. Gosiame Thamara Sithole, 37, gave birth to the ten children on Monday night, June 7,2021. The mother was
expecting eight children as a result of an earlier pregnancy test, but two more babies were found during the delivery. According to a report published by the Pretoria News network and other news outlets in the country, Thamara gave birth to seven boys and three girls through surgery at a Pretoria hospital. She is
now a mother of 12 children as she already has a six-year-old twin. Her husband, Teboho Tsotetsi, said Thamara’s pregnancy was completely natural as she was not on any maternity treatment. “We now have seven boys and three girls. She gave birth after seven months and seven days, “the happy father said. In an interview a month ago before giving birth, the mother, who now has 12 children, said she was shocked to learn that she may have been given so many babies at one time.
She was originally expecting eight babies but two more were found when she gave birth. Her husband, who is now unemployed, said he was happy to welcome his children into the world. “I felt like I was one of God’s children but I still couldn’t believe it. I am very eager to hold my children in my arms, “he said. Earlier, it was reported that a 25-year-old woman in Mali gave birth to nine babies at a time when she enters history books to give birth to such a number of children.
The health ministry in the West African country said the woman, Halima Cisse, was expecting seven children, but ultrasound tests did not find two more babies in her womb. The ministry revealed that Cisse had undergone five girls and four boys through surgery.
