The 23-year-old medical student has been growing close to 26-year-old Matthew since she entered the villa earlier this week, but her head may well be turned after 27-year-old PhD student Brett takes her on a date later this evening.

Arriving at their date, Priya says: “I’m very glad you picked me.

“I do feel like you need to have that connection. You need to be on the same level emotionally.

“I like someone who is intelligent and athletic.

“I usually go for confidence on the outside but a sweetheart on the inside.”

Brett says: “My PhD is in exercise and physical activity and it’s connected to cardiovascular diseases.”

Priya asks: “By the end of the year, you’ll essentially be a doctor?”

Brett says: “Fingers crossed.”

Following the date, Priya tells Chloe Burrows she is still keen to get to know strategic marketing consultant Matt, and doesn’t want to make her decision “too quickly”.

However, time doesn’t appear to be on her side, as the Islanders are set to recouple once again.

While they are relaxing in the garden, Faye Winter receives a text which reads: “Islanders. Tonight, there will be a recoupling. The girls will each choose which boy they want to couple up with. The boy not picked to be in a couple will be dumped from the Island. #grabaman #girlboss”

Meanwhile, this year’s ‘Love Island’ has highlighted some of the most common “red flags” daters face when embarking on new relationships, including being dishonest, or withholding information.

Research by dating app Badoo has found 86 per cent of singles actively look for red flags at the start of a new relationship.

Despite this, eight in 10 singletons believe a partner who shows red flags can still be a “keeper”.

Love coach Persia Lawson, who partnered with Badoo to to provide advice for those experiencing red flags in their relationship, said: “The key thing to remember when it comes to navigating red flags is that the flag doesn’t necessarily have to be a deal-breaker.

“It’s just a sign you need to have a conversation with the person you’re dating and explain to them, calmly and respectfully, why this behaviour doesn’t feel good to you – keeping the focus on your experience rather than berating them for what they’ve done wrong.”

‘Love Island’ airs tonight at 9pm on ITV2, ITV Hub, Virgin Media One and Virgin Media Player.
